H.E.A.R.T. stands for Hope, Empowerment, Advocacy, Respect and Transitional housing.
HEART of Taos is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide transitional housing and support services through the HEART Resource Center for Taos women facing homelessness.
HEART of Taos uses a one-on-one approach to meet each woman’s basic needs, and to provide support including individual and group counseling, advocacy, access to our Resource Center’s many other services, and a step-by-step action plan that includes assistance in securing eligible government benefits, community services, employment, and permanent affordable personal residences.
Homelessness includes the experience of involuntary housing instability such as living in a vehicle or temporary dwelling, sleeping rough/outside or in an uninhabitable shelter, staying at a mass shelter, and doubling up with friends/family. Each month in Taos, women and children experience homelessness.
